Welcome to Sonhos Positivos

Mobile Home site in the beautiful Alentejo region of Portugal

Life in Ferreira

Ferreira do Alentejo is truly a beautiful safe village with a very laid back feel.  Life here is fairly simple and stress free, the locals are very warm & inviting to all and many of us have made very good friends amongst them.  Communication is no problem either as many speak good English once they get to know you.

Healthcare is very good with a modern Health Centre & there is always a chemist open, the closest hospital is located in Beja at about 25kms away.
Stunning buildings and churches make for a very lovely place to spend an afternoon and enjoy a glass of vinho or two, the local wines have won international awards and are very reasonably priced.   There are around 60 bars and restaurants in the village offering a vast choice of local cuisine.

Many festivals are held here throughout the year and in the surrounding villages there is always something going on. Bikers will be pleased to know there are two motorcycle clubs both with a very good following, they hold many events throughout the year.
There are many shops and supermarkets offering everything you could possibly need, we also have a beautiful park complete with bar & restaurant, two public swimming pools a cinema and much much more!!
The Portuguese are well known for their wine, beers and spirits, it must be said, most seem to live to a very old age. To give you an idea of prices:  A bottle of beer/cerveja is around 50 cents in supermarkets. Wines/vinhos range from €4 upwards per litre in a bar and come in lovely white/branco, green/verde, or rosé and finally the delicious full bodied red/tinto wines similarly priced to the whites. There are plenty of  award winning vineyards in the region to visit and sample!  Port wine is about the same price or slightly cheaper.  Most spirits including Gin, Vodka and Whisky are less than €10 for a full sized bottle.
You will have your own lemon tree to produce your freshly picked slice, all citrus trees do  exceptionally well here!!
